Did you know 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer? Even though you can't prevent cancer, there are still steps you can take to lower your risk. Family history can't be changed but your lifestyle can be.

Make sure to maintain a healthy weight. If you are overweight you will have a higher change of getting breast cancer. Make sure to eat a healthy diet and get the adequate amount of exercise which means 30 minutes each day. Also, watch how much alcohol you consume. Try to limit the amount you drink in a day as this can also increase your risk. There is also some evidence between smoking and breast cancer. This unhealthy habit should not be apart of your lifestyle as it can cause serious problems for your health.

But ladies, don't stop there. Make sure to do self breast exams each month, get scheduled exams by your doctor, and have a mammogram. Wouldn't you want to catch it early? Don't be lazy and have an early detection plan!
